WNCYSA COVID REGULATIONS

The WNCYSA Board of Directors have enacted the following guidelines based on several recommendations from the NC Department of Health and Human Services as of December 8, 2020.

REVISED:  EFFECTIVE APRIL 30, 2021 AT 5:00 P.M.

❑ NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR ANY PARTICIPANT THAT MISSES ANY OR ALL GAMES DUE TO ISOLATION/QUARANTINE PROCEDURES!

200 people maximum at Bullman Park, Oakley Park and Ray Kisiah Park fields during all WNCYSA games or practices. Please keep in mind this may only be possible by limiting each player to have a maximum of 4 spectators at each game or practice. Players, coaches and support staff are not subject to the occupancy requirements.  UPDATED 4/30/21

❑ Spectators should limit their interactions with non-family members and remain seated (preferably in their own chairs, spaced along the outer limits of the field) as much as possible.

❑ Screens may be placed behind home plate to discourage fans from gathering in close proximity to watch the games and to keep fans a safe distance from the players.

❑ Stands/Bleachers will be closed to spectators until further notice. Stands/Bleachers may be opened after further evaluation.

❑ Face coverings (masks/neck gaiters that cover mouth and nose) are mandatory for anyone inside of dugouts (players, coaches, officials, parents).

Face coverings (masks/neck gaiters that cover mouth and nose) are mandatory for all coaches during close interaction with umpires, players, parents, and other coaches. (Before game umpire meeting, mound visits, huddles, and dugouts) UPDATED 4/30/2021

Face coverings (masks/neck gaiters that cover mouth and nose) are mandatory for all umpires when in close contact with coaches, players, participants, and other umpires. UPDATED 4/30/21

Face coverings (masks/neck gaiters that cover mouth and nose) are optional for players who are actively participating on the field or at bat. UPDATED 4/30/21

Face coverings (masks/neck gaiters that cover mouth and nose) are optional for all spectators, except when seated in their seats while maintaining social distance. UPDATED 4/30/21

Face coverings (masks/neck gaiters that cover mouth and nose) are mandator for all spectators when unable to social distance, at the concession stand, and in bathrooms. UPDATED 4/30/21

❑ Masks will not be provided by the league.

❑ As in the past, players must provide their own batting helmets (no sharing). Please contact the league if you need help in obtaining a helmet, as we are happy to loan any players a helmet for the season.

❑ Players are strongly encouraged to provide their own bats.

❑ No sharing of catching helmets and masks. The league will provide helmets and masks to each individual team, pending need.

❑ Players should bring their own water bottles.  No sharing allowed.

❑ Coaches/players should not shake hands, give high fives or fist bumps before, during, or after the game or practice.

❑ Coaches, officials and others should modify communication methods and avoid up close, face to face communication.

❑ Games and practices will conclude to provide a buffer time to allow athletes, coaches, families and fans to enter and exit the fields with limited interaction.

❑ Players and families are strongly encouraged to leave the field complex immediately following their games and practices in order to limit interactions.

❑ Players and coaches are strongly encouraged to wash hands immediately prior to and following any games and practices.

❑ No more than 2 people in the restrooms at all times. Please stand 6 feet apart if waiting.

❑ Players and coaches are encouraged to bring and use their own hand sanitizer. WNCYSA will also provide hand sanitizer at various locations throughout each field location.

❑ If a player tests positive for COVID-19, the player shall not attend any practice or game until completing the applicable current CDC isolation/quarantine procedure. Proof of compliance with the isolation/quarantine may be required prior to being allowed to return to participation.

❑ Parents/guardians of any player that: 1) tests positive for COVID-19; 2) shows any symptoms of COVID-19; 3) has had close contact with a person who has symptoms of COVID-19, are required to immediately inform their player’s coach and/or the League Safety Officer.

❑ Determination on team quarantining, practice or game cancellation/postponement will be made by the League on a case-by-case basis and pursuant to the most current guidelines from the applicable health experts.

❑ Each family should determine their own personal level of comfort with participating with WNCYSA. The WNCYSA Board of Directors is a group of parent’s volunteers, not health experts, who are trying to give children an opportunity to play baseball and Softball this Spring.

❑ As a condition to your child participating in WNCYSA, each parent/guardian agrees to abide by all guidelines provided in this document and any future guidelines enacted by the WNCYSA Board. Failure to adhere to these guidelines could result in sanctions, up to and including, expulsion from the league.

❑ All of these COVID guidelines are subject to change with or without notice based on further recommendations from federal, state, and local health officials.

Let’s have fun and do all that we can to keep players, coaches, families and fans safe this season! Play Ball!
